Greetings everyone, and thank you for reading our November 2017 issue!

This has been a very exciting and busy semester for both Black Ink and BSM, as BSM recently celebrated 50 years! In addition to the Lookbook that we created to commemorate the occasion (https://issuu.com/uncblackink/docs/bsm50lookbookfinalfinal), we’ve included several stories about BSM, its membership, its activism, and its history in this issue! We also have a preview into this year’s men’s Basketball team, and plenty of other fun, thoughtful, and interesting stories for you all to enjoy.

We’d like extend a huge congratulations to BSM’s 2017-2018 Royal Court, who was recently crowned! We know you will all do great work and contribute great things to the organization.

I would also like to take the time to formally thank this year’s wonderful staff for all of their hard work and dedication so far. I will be studying abroad in London next semester, so this semester will (sadly) be my last semester as Editor in Chief on campus. I will continue to fulfill the duties of my position from overseas, but a new Editor in Chief will be selected relatively soon to help share the workload next semester and take over for next school year. My time with Black Ink has been a definite highlight of my UNC career and I am grateful beyond words for this opportunity. That time, however, is not over just yet, so y’all will be still hearing from me, I’ll just be in London!

Hope y’all enjoy reading this issue as much as we enjoyed creating it for you.

Uhuru Ni Upinduzi,

Dominque Brodie (’19)

Editor in Chief
