Greetings, and welcome to Black Ink’s October 2017 issue.

After all of Black Ink’s growth and success last year, we are glad to be back and to give our audience more of the revolutionary Black content that we are dedicated to producing. We would like to give a special thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate this issue at our release party on Tuesday!

With all of the turmoil, racism, and resistance that is sweeping our University, our nation, and our world, we at Black Ink find it necessary to provide a voice for Black students in this political battle. With this issue, you will find intriguing commentary on various political and apolitical events and happenings in our community. There is much to be said regarding Silent Sam and the other vestiges of white supremacy and racism that are continually memorialized and honored, but instead of amplifying my own voice, I will leave that to the stories within this issue, and the countless voices (particularly those of Black women) that are already being heard on our campus. Thank you for reading. Stay uplifted, stay revolutionary, and stay healthy.
