Greetings and welcome to Black Ink’s final issue of this academic year, our April 2017 People’s Issue!

For this issue, we really wanted to focus on the people in and around UNC’s Black community that support and encourage our staff to do the work we so fervently do. It has truly been an honor to serve the community in this capacity this year, and I am so proud of the work we have done.

As this year comes to a close, I’d like to personally extend my deepest gratitude to Black Ink’s staff, BSM, and every single person who has read and supported our efforts this year. This year has truly been monumental for Black Ink as we have over doubled our staff, our content, and our viewership. None of these efforts would mean anything without our audience that supports and sustains us. Here’s to bigger and better things for next year!

For now, though, enjoy this issue which includes a (very necessary) LDOC Survival Guide,  a Spotlight story on CUAB’s President-Elect Jordan Bermudez, submitted stories and poems from UNC’s larger Black community, and a plethora of stories that should reflect the wants of you, the people.

Dominque Brodie
