Its April, y’all. That means we are rapidly approaching a major holiday here on campus…Spring LDOC. LDOC is an annual celebration for surviving UNC’s constant tries on our lives. This year, LDOC falls on Friday, April 28 so if you’re new to UNC like me, understand that this is not a drill, nor is it a game. You have but a few short weeks to prepare yourself for LDOC, and if you don’t get right, you will undoubtedly get left. Fortunately, Black Ink saw fit to include an LDOC Survival Guide in our last issue of the year to make sure that no one is left behind, and with the help of some veterans around campus, no one will. So without further ado, here is the 2017 LDOC Survival Guide:
- LDOC is a FLEX. Dress accordingly.
- If you want to make it through day and night, take a nap.
- “EAT.” –Richard Hall, UNC’19
- The cookout is not an option, so be there!
- Stay hydrated! Alternate between water and “other beverages” so you don’t wear yourself out!” –Jazlin Laboy, UNC’17
- Whether it’s your first LDOC, or your last, take plenty of pictures for memories.
- “[For first years,] Don’t fall into the hype too quick. Seniors can afford to drink through class because they’re out of here. Have fun, but realize you still have something to lose.” –Noah Legall, UNC’18
- Get yourself an LDOC Buddy. One of y’all (or maybe even both) is going to need it.
- “LDOC is a truly unforgettable experience so you’re going to want to remember it. Live your BEST life but be real with yourself—know your limits so you have a chance to experience the day (and night) in its entirety!” – Seteena Turner, UNC’18
- ALWAYS remember: It’s a marathon, not a sprint.
