Every four years, citizens gather in the masses around the United States to voice their political opinions in Presidential contest. It is officially Fall, which means the 2016 election is right around the corner. This is an informative outline explaining the political process with respect to North Carolina law so you can be ready to cast your vote this fall. Voting is our most sacred right as Americans so it is important everyone is aware of the rules and regulations regarding voting.
Who can vote?
Anyone over the age of 18 who is a United States citizen can vote…IF YOU’RE REGISTERED.
How Do I Register?
To register to vote you must print off the voter registration application, fill it out, and mail it in to your local country board of elections.
Who’s the Board of Elections and What’s their address?
Every county has a Board of Elections that oversees the voting process. It is their job to insure the proper protocol is followed during elections. For UNC students, the address to mail the form above to is: Orange County Board of Elections, 208 S Cameron St, Hillsborough, NC 27278.
Is there a deadline to register?
YES! North Carolina does not have same day registration. You must register to vote by October 14th if you want to be involved in the upcoming elections.
