And just like that, the fall semester is drawing to a close. I don’t know about you, but this semester seems to have flown by. Between the stresses of classes, getting acclimated to dorm life, making friends, and whatever football season was, I feel that I haven’t been able to fully involve myself in extracurricular activities here on campus. While most clubs on campus conduct their recruiting during the fall semester, it’s not too late to get involved! I’ve researched some clubs and organizations that are willing to accept new members this spring.
Cultural Connections
Life at a PWI can definitely be tough. Luckily, UNC has many clubs and organisations that focus on cultural identity, allowing students to connect with those who share similar backgrounds and understand and appreciate their differences. Many of these clubs don’t require official membership, so just show up, engage, and come with an open mind.

Spiritual Serenity
Regardless of your beliefs, taking some time to reflect on spiritual matters can be a great way to ground yourself and gain peace and clarity as you enter the spring semester. Here are a few UNC clubs and organisations focused on religion and spirituality. I’ve also included the addresses of some local churches. Many of these groups are very welcoming to new members, so don’t be afraid to stop in next semester!

Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship
Cooperative Student Baptist Fellowship

Career-prep Clubs
Naturally, college is a great place to start exploring future career paths. Joining a pre-professional club is a great way to connect with those with similar career interests and learn more about your field of study. Here are some career groups to look into.

Black Pre-Law Student Association
National Student Speech Language Hearing Association
Student Chapter of the Society of Ameerican Archivists
Activate your Athleticism
My New Year’s Resolution is pretty much always the same: be more active! I’ll be trying that goal again this year, and if you care to join me, you can try joining some of these clubs and organisations! Campus Rec is also a great place to start! You can work out on your own, or you can participate in free group workout classes. I’ve included the information for that as well.
Carolina Beach Volleyball Club
Chinese Women’s Basketball Club
Men’s Club Ultimate White (Frisbee Team)
Artistic Articulation
College is a place where you can learn and explore new things, and one way to do that is by engaging with the arts. Whether you’re looking to perform, create, or just watch, UNC has many arts offerings for you to enjoy.

New Semester, New You
While this is by no means intended to be an exhaustive list of all the clubs and organisations our school has to offer, I hope that you feel inspired to get out in the campus community this semester. Fall semester may have been rough, but the spring and the new year give us a unique opportunity to branch out and try new things. After all, that’s what college is all about.
