I have been a pescatarian since March of 2021, and I was a vegetarian for 7 months prior to that. Oftentimes when people discover I don’t eat meat I get a few common questions like:
“Why? Is it for health reasons?
“Do you miss meat, and will you ever eat meat again?”
“Does your family not eat meat?”
I bet you’re wondering too, so I’ll answer those for you.
I stopped eating meat in September of 2020 after watching “What The Health” on Netflix in my weightlifting class. However, I also only have one functioning kidney so eating less meat is more beneficial for me.
Secondly, I don’t miss meat and I do not intend on eating meat ever again.
Lastly, which most people find shocking, is that none of my direct family is vegetarian, pescatarian, or vegan.
Though these are the most common questions, nothing tops the question I get during November; “what are you going to eat for Thanksgiving?” A lot of people are overly worried or “feel bad” for me not being able to eat meat on this holiday, however, my family makes a lot of accommodations for me and makes sure to not exclude me from the holiday feast. Due to the misconceptions and struggle to find a variety of vegetarian/pescatarian festive foods, I will be listing some meals you should incorporate this year to help a human herbivore out!
1. Classic Baked Mac & Cheese

2. Stuffed Shrimp
3. Cajun Fried Fish

4. Yams

5. Lemon Pepper Salmon
6. Sweet Potato/Pumpkin Pie

8. Southern Potato Salad
9. Creamy Mashed Potatoes
