Black women have been the backbone and muses of many industries, and fashion is no exception. These 10 celebrities are some of the hottest faces in fashion today.

1. Taylor Russel

Taylor Russell is a budding Hollywood actress best known on screen as the lead and love interest opposite Timothee Chalamet in the horror-romance film Bones and All. Off-screen, the starlet has been making waves in the fashion world. In November 2022, she was announced as the first North American ambassador for Loewe and opened their 2023 Spring Ready to Wear show. She’s walked the red carpet in designs by Schiaparelli, Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga and of course, Loewe.

2. Ziwe Fumudoh

Ziwe Fumudoh became a national treasure through her hilarious confrontational interview style in the Showtime series Ziwe. On-screen, Ziwe represents the hyper-feminine black girls with her pink late-night set and preppy yet girly wardrobe, which includes blazer dresses, diamond embellishments, opera gloves, pink tweed sets and feather boas. Outside her show, Ziwe upholds her it-girl persona in the fashion realm. She appeared at the 2021 Met gala afterparty in a crystallized dress with a silver breastplate and walked in Mugler’s Fall 2023 show.

3. Anok yai

Anok Yai rose to fame at 19 from a viral photo of her at Howard University’s 2020 Homecoming festival, Yard Fest. Since then, Yai signed with Next Model Management and made history as the first Sudanese model to open a Prada fashion show. In 2021, Yai made headlines again with her first Met Gala appearance, wearing a sleek, Old Hollywood look by Oscar De La Renta.

4. Kelly Rowland

Kelly Rowland may be known best as a former member of Destiny’s Child, but the singer has also cemented herself as a fashion icon. In September, she accepted the Fashion Icon of the Year Award at Harlem’s Fashion Row’s Style and Awards show during New York Fashion Week. Rowland effortlessly pulls off her outfits, whether it’s a flashy statement piece or something subtle yet stylish.

5. Cardi B

Cardi B is a rapper who breaks the female emcee mold in fashion with her versatile sense of style. She has embraced every style, from elegant to avant-garde and, of course, sexy. In 2019, the “Up” rapper was one of the standouts at the Met Gala in a massive feathered and beaded gown covered head to toe in red. This year, she graced Paris Fashion Week wearing designs from Schiaparelli, Fendi, Jean Paul Gautier, and Balenciaga.

6. Teyana Taylor

Teyana Taylor is unquestionably one of the most talented entertainers of our generation as an accomplished vocalist, actor, dancer, creative director, and fashionista. Taylor’s style is a perfect balance between androgynous streetwear and high-glam femininity. Over the years, brands have taken notice of her incredible fashion sense. She’s walked for designers CGDS and Phillip Pein, and in 2020, became a creative director for PrettyLittleThing. Taylor took her talents into streetwear in 2023 by collaborating with the Jordan brand on footwear and apparel.

7. Marsai Martin

Marsai Martin came into the public eye at 9 years old when she starred as Diane Johnson in the hit-tv show Blackish. In 2019, Martin became the youngest person to star in and executive produce a studio film at 13. When she isn’t making boss moves, the starlet and producer takes over the fashion front with her stylist Jason Rembert (who also styles her Blackish Costar Yara Shahidi). Martin isn’t afraid of rocking bold colors, a powerful pantsuit or designs from the metaverse. In 2022, she launched a digital fashion collection where users can customize their dream outfits with avatars.

8. Doja Cat

The “Attention” rapper may be known for creativity and versatility in the rap world, but Doja Cat may be on the way to becoming this generation’s fashion icon. While Doja Cat has always been known for her avant-garde fashion sense, she went viral during the 2023 Paris Fashion Week for her daring looks. Ms. Cat attended the Schiaparelli Haute Couture show wearing a red silk bustier and hand-knitted, beaded skirt with 30,000 ruby red Swarovski crystals covering her body. In another bold look, she rocked a caramel-colored pinstripe suit and used false eyelashes to create a mustache, goatee and eyebrows.

9. ayo edebiri

Actress and comedian Ayo Edebiri is a breakout star and emerging fashion queen. Ebediri can be seen rocking various skirtsuits and pantsuits. Ebediri became an unofficial Thome Brown girl (known for the reconceptualization of the classic men’s suit) in 2023 by sporting custom looks at both the Emmy Awards and its afterparty, the CFDA awards, and sitting front row at the brand’s first-ever couture show. When she’s not donning a suit, the actress can be seen wearing unique gowns by Prada, Giambattista Valli, Rosie Aussoline and Rodarte.

When she isn’t being a Disney princess, Bailey dons sleek looks with cutouts, draping and fringe from designers such as Monot, Robert Cavalli, and Rodarte.
