Don’t get me wrong—

I’m enjoying college

And I think I chose the best school for me

But my to-do list is getting too long.

Plus, I’m absorbing too much knowledge

All for my dream of receiving a UNC degree.

I’m okay because I’m strong.

How are you

No, how are you really?

I feel like our mental health is something to acknowledge

Recent events show us that long lives aren’t guaranteed.

I don’t have all the answers but here’s what works for me:

I play basketball, I write and I produce

These activities help me cope with college.

Enough of what works for me!

What works for you?

How do you manage what you’re going through?

It might be different, it may even be seem silly,

But anything to resolve your mental blockage!

As for the course load, just let it be.

It can be overwhelming, and you may want to flee.

Instead, think about some strategies to use.

If you want, you can just relax, too.

With the semester ending,

I just wanted to reach out

To see how you’re feeling

And to tell you I think you’re doing great.

What matters more: you or grades?

The more stress you have, the more your smile fades.

Don’t get me wrong –

I’m a first-year, so you may not need my advice

Because I’m not you and you aren’t me.

Still, I thank you for following along!

I hope you remember that the stress isn’t worth it

When your mental health is the price.
