May 26th, 2016 was a momentous day in black history. This was the day that Radric Davis, otherwise known as Gucci Mane, was released from prison, and ever since that day, Gucci has been making boss moves with his beautiful partner-(not)-in-crime, Keyshia Ka’oir by his side. In a matter of 17 months, Gucci has dropped bangers in the hip-hop world from “Back on Road” to “Stutter” to “Tone it Down” on his newest album, Mr. Davis. In addition to that, Gucci has written and released a New York Times Bestseller. However, above all that, it can be said that as of Woptober 17th, the post-prison accomplishment that Gucci is the proudest of to date is marrying his girlfriend, Keyshia Ka’oir.

Now let’s get into the Wopster Wedding.

First of all, the price tag on this event was a smooth $1.7 million, which is basically light work for this power couple (reference Gucci saying to Keyshia “don’t ever say the word budget no ‘mo’”). Secondly, this wedding was one to go down in hip hop history with a star studded guest list that included Diddy, Big Sean and Jhene, as well as 2 Chainz to name a few. Not to mention the wedding rehearsal that ended with Gucci surprising Keyshia with a His-and-Hers Rolls Royce Wraith combo, and Keyshia surprising him with a diamond studded bowtie that he wore on their wedding day. Luxurious? Definitely an understatement. Too much? Never. This wedding was nothing less than ROYAL, and that was all we needed to show that this is the Wopsters’ World and we’re simply living in it.  Personally, as a self-proclaimed Wopster daughter, I have never seen either of my parents smile so brightly, and I couldn’t be happier for this union.

Now that we’ve covered what has been deemed the “Wedding of the Year,” here’s a brief recap of all the events leading up to this Wop Holiday.

May 26, 2016: Guwop is released from prison 4 months early

May 27: First Day Out Tha Feds is released

July 22: “Everybody Looking,” Gucci’s first album upon release drops

October 14: Gucci drops the mixtape “Woptober”

November 23: Gucci proposes to Keyshia Ka’oir at an Atlanta Hawks basketball game

December 16: In the midst of a hectic finals season, Gucci releases “The Return of the East Atlanta Santa” which I must say literally carried me through the end of my first semester at Carolina.

May 26, 2017: Gucci releases another album marking the 1 year anniversary of his release, “Drop Top Wop” featuring tracks like Met Gala ft. Offset

September 19: “The Autobiography of Gucci Mane” is released

October 13: Gucci’s latest album “Mr. Davis” is released.

WOPtober 17TH 2017: GUCCI AND KEYSHIA’S WEDDING AIRS LIVE ON BET

With all that being said, CONGRATULATIONS Mr. and Mrs. Davis. Here’s to many “so icy” years of love and happiness.
