Happy Black History Month and welcome to Black Ink’s 2017 Black History Month issue! The month of February is a wonderful 28 days that we as Black people get to use as a time to celebrate our history past and present. Keeping with the theme of honoring the past, this issue’s cover is a recycled cover from October 2000. As the cover reads, we hope that this issue and all of our content will Educate, Enlighten, Entertain, and Inform our readers. We’ve got an amazing array of stories examining major Black history figures, current Black media, and diving into Black History here at UNC.

We hope you’ll take the time to explore these articles and engage with the content offered in this issue! We hope that you spend this February (and every month) celebrating Blackness and Black history in every way imaginable. Stay uplifted, stay focused, and stay Black!
