Revere the flag, that historical cloth.

50 white stars, scars for every lash

every slash – flaming flesh.

Bloody stripes shimmering in the breeze.

Freedom.

Don’t forget, you are different.

Pores pregnant with the most menacing Melanin,

ultraviolet violence.

Your skin is discomforting,

a blueprint of ancient agony –

unreconciled wrongs.

Take this scholarship.

Government aid, crack rock.

Survive.

Respect our officers, you depend on them.

Preserving order in seared slums,

mouthwatering Death constricting the schoolyard.

children who lack escape

assimilate.

Bloodshed at the traffic stop,

another nigger slain.

Charred aspirations on asphalt.

Get over it.

Never fight your status, the status quo.

Soundless shackles.

Timeless noose –

bleeding branches in the breeze.

Strange fruit hangin’.

Merica.
